First Responder: Seizing Cellular Phones and Other Mobile Devices

Description:  This course will instruct officers on how to properly seize, transport and store cellular phones and other mobile devices of evidence, and how and where to obtain a forensic exam of the device.  Course will cover the types of data that can be extracted from cell phones and mobile devices, and how such evidence can be beneficial to your case. This course will also introduce some of the most popular mobile phone forensic utilities from several companies and include an actual demonstration of a data acquisition using these forensic software utilities.  This course is geared towards Patrol Officers, Investigators, and anyone else that may be tasked with seizing mobile devices.  Course is provided free of charge by the SEMO Cyber Crimes Task Force.  (Limited to law enforcement only.)   

 

 

 Knoppix First Responder: Software Tool or Law Enforcement to Preview a Suspect's Computer in a Forensically Sound Manner

Description: This course will instruct students on how to use Knoppix as a "First Responder" tool to determine whether a computer should be examined in more detail in a forensic setting.  This can be beneficial for the investigating officer for a multitude of scenarious including: Child Pornography cases, Fraud cases, counterfeiting cases, white collar crime cases, and many other computer crime investigations.  Course limited to law enforcement, including probation and parole officers.  Course will be a "hands on" computer lab environment.   

 

 

 

Internet Crimes Against Children: An introduction to these crimes, and resources for law enforcement agencies

 Description: 

This course will provide attendees with an introduction to internet crimes against children, and resources available to law enforcement agencies tasked with investigating these crimes. 

Topics include: 

· Different ways children are exploited online

· Investigative methods for law enforcement

· Child Pornography investigations

· Child Enticement investigations

· Undercover Investigations 

This course is intended to familiarize the attendee with these types of crimes, and what they can do when they encounter them.  This is not intended to be a specific “training course” on online investigations.

 

 

 

 Internet Crimes Against Children: An introduction to these crimes and resources for Family Services, Child Advocacy Centers, and other agencies involved in the care of children who have been sexually victimized or exploited

Description:   

This one hour course will provide attendees with an introduction to internet crimes against children, and law enforcement resources available to them.  

Topics include: 

· Different ways children are exploited online

· Investigative methods for law enforcement

· Child Pornography investigations

· Child Enticement investigations

· Working with Law Enforcement

 This course is intended to familiarize the attendee with these types of crimes, and what to look for in relation to these crimes, when conducting an investigation involving sexually victimized children. This course is geared towards Family Services Investigators, Child Advocacy Centers, Probation and Parole Officers, and Juvenile Officers.  There is NO FEE to attend this course.
